Infusing Disability Content Across a University Campus Janet

Infusing Disability Content Across a University Campus Janet Perkins Corbett, MS - Wyoming Institute for Disabilities Introduction Methods Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND) created a series of Infusion Units as an effective way to provide disability related content to students in diverse courses. In Spring Semester 2012 we created an instrument with the following questions: Goals of Infusion Units: Students will become familiar with disability issues Students will understand how to effectively interact with people with disabilities

Students will have a greater understanding of disability issues Students will have a greater understanding about disability studies as an academic field Student Comments Overall good presentation, I have a concern that changing the language used may not change the intent of that language and if that isnt emphasized the stigma may not change with the language. Its great to hear these guest speakers because it is something we will encounter often as nurses and everyday people- thank you! W e fi dir nd ha e it ve ctl us
