In a second nationaltryout in early 2005, revised and newly created items were administered to 850 people. Thefinal item set, which had met both quantitative and qualitative criteria of difficulty, validity, andfairness, was standardized from fall 2005 to spring 2006 at over 400 sites around the UnitedStates on a sample of over 6,000 people. The PPVT-4 and EVT-2 tests are normed on the identical sample (3,540 cases for age normsand a subset of 2,003 cases for grade norms). All members of the norm sample were proficientin English. Both the age norm and grade norm samples nearly match the national population(less than 1% variance, according to 2004 U.S. Census data) in terms of the followingdemographic variables:SexRace/ethnicity (including the distributionsof SES and geographic region withinrace/ethnicity groups)Geographic regionSocioeconomic status (SES) indexed byparental or examinee education levelSpecial-education, ADHD, or gifted/talented statusThe patterns of PPVT-4 and EVT-2 correlations (with each other and with other tests) supporttheir interpretation as measures of vocabulary—that is, their construct validity. The correlationbetween PPVT-4 scores and EVT-2 scores averages .82. The manuals report correlations withtests of language and reading. Also, a wide variety of clinical samples were tested, including atotal of 859 individuals with language delay, language disorder, speech impairment, hearingimpairment (with or without cochlear implants), mental retardation, learning disabilities, andother diagnoses.Final Product FeaturesAn 8.5" by 11" format for the paper easelsParallel (2) forms of each test(Form A and Form B)Modernized core vocabularyFull-color, realistic illustrationsDigital options (see digital pages)VALID AND RELIABLE SCORES YOU CAN INTERPRETWITH CONFIDENCEMeasure Vocabulary Growth EasilyPerformance on the PPVT-4 and EVT-2 tests can be measured by a Growth Scale Value (GSV)scale. This scale functions as a yardstick of absolute performance that ranges from the very lowestscore to the very highest score on each test. GSVs from different forms (A and B) or differenteditions (the PPVT-III and PPVT-4 tests or the EVT and EVT-2) can be compared and trackedover time to assess growth. The GSV scale is based on the Rasch ability scale. Highly reliable andaccurate scores allow for greater sensitivity to change.Thoroughly Compare Receptive and Expressive PerformanceThe co-norming of the PPVT‑4 and EVT-2 scales provides strong support for testing hypothesesabout the basis of vocabulary problems. You can use one or more of five approaches tosupplement the quantifiable information provided by the standard scores alone:Interpretation of Standard Score DifferencesClassification by Part of Speech (noun, verb, and attribute)Classification by Home versus School VocabularyClassification by a Three-Tier Model(adapted from the work of Beck, et al. [2002], Bringing Words to Life)Crossover Vocabulary Sampling (i.e., the same items across forms)INTEGRATE INTO YOUR WORK WITHGREATER VERSATILITYDesigned for ages 2:6 through 90 , these versatile instruments are appropriate for screening, progress monitoring, program evaluation, and as part of a diagnostic assessment process. They also are applicable to all three tiers of the Response to Intervention (RtI) model.OverviewA measure of expressivevocabulary and wordretrieval for StandardAmerican English.Age Range: 2:6–90 Publication Date: 2007Qualification Level: BCompletion Time:10–20 minutesAdministration:Paper-and-pencil, Q-globalScores/Interpretation:Age- and grade-based standardscores (M 100, SD 15),percentiles, normal curveequivalents (NCEs), stanines, age and grade equivalents, andGrowth Scale Value (GSV)PAPER*Complete Kit (Forms A and B)Includes: A and B Easels, Manual, A and B RecordForms (25 each), and Carrying Case30700Q-global Administration IndividualScore Summary Report (1 each)64017Form A KitIncludes: A Easel, Manual, A Record Forms (25),and Carrying Case30701Form A Q-global Digital Stimulus Book64025Form B KitIncludes: B Easel, Manual, B Record Forms (25),and Carrying Case30702Form B Q-global Digital Stimulus Book64027Q-global Examiner’s Manual64030Q-interactive User Access to 1–3 TestsQNTRUSER1TO3Scoring Options:Q-global (web-based) ormanual scoring (5 minutes or less)Report Options:With Q-global web-based scoringand reportingIndividual Reports:Score Summary, Diagnostic Analysis,Progress, and Receptive ExpressiveComparison (with PPVT-4)Group Reports:Score Summary, Single-GroupProgress, and Multiple-GroupsProgressRTI Tiers: 1, 2, and 3DIGITAL*PPVT-4 Q-interactive License SelectQNTRLICSELPPVT4PAPER*DIGITAL*Complete Kit (Forms A and B)Includes: A and B Easels, Manual, A and B RecordForms (25 each), and Carrying Case30750Q-global Individual Score SummaryReport (1 each)64035Form A KitIncludes: A Easel, Manual, A Record Forms (25),and Carrying Case30751Form A Q-global Digital Stimulus Book64042Form B KitIncludes: B Easel, Manual, B Record Forms (25),and Carrying Case30752Form B Q-global Digital Stimulus Book64044Q-global Examiner’s Manual64046*Please visit PearsonClinical.com for current information and pricing.
